She is also an artist who is obsessed with crafting the details and exploring the unknown possibilities from sketches to final pieces. Chang's work embodies her innovative thinking and reflects sincere introspection and spiritual growth. Her works received the Homeware Design of the Year at the Dezeen Awards 2020, the Dezeen Awards 2020 public vote winner, a Gold A’ Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Award Winner 2020, and a Student Notable in the Speculative Design category in the 2020 Core77 Design Awards program.  Chang has taken part in exhibitions, such as Wanted Design: was/is (Brooklyn, 2019), Sight Unseen Offsite (New York, 2018). Her work has been published in several blogs and magazines, such as Dezeen and Colossal. In a world with three spatial dimensions plus the linear time perception, humans have learned to use spatial metaphors to think about time. As the sun moves across the sky, shadows change in direction and length. It did not require a long time for humans to realize the repetitive changing position of sunlight and shadow was a good tool to verify the sense of time. Light and shade build up a predictable context as a most basic clock. It was far from an accurate measurement by today’s standards but precise enough for an agricultural society. Every nine years, the outer layer of the bark can be harvested. As a renewable resource, cork is more eco-friendly than wood because it takes less time to grow and the trees do not need to be cut down. Cork is resistant to moisture due to a particular waxy substance called suberin that coats its bark. Also, within the suberin, there is a special substance called the Casparian strip, which is a natural pesticide. Thus, cork is a particularly unique material in that it can naturally resist moisture, decay, and worms. Despite the advantages of cork as a material, its uses have been limited. They all have different characteristics and textures that allowed Yuting Chang to explore the usage of cork within one object fully.
